Guangzhou BRT Conceptual Plan
Following international best practice, the Construction Commission has indicated that BRT in Guangzhou should be implemented such that:
- Passengers will benefit from major travel time savings
- Land acquisition would preferably not be required
- Mixed traffic congestion will not be worsened
- The system will supplement and complement the Metro
- The system will be sufficiently profitable that the bus operators will be able to pay for the new buses.
The Guangzhou BRT Conceptual Plan prepared in 2005 - 2006 explains:
- The suitability and risks of BRT in Guangzhou
- A BRT corridor, and station locations and sizes
- A BRT operational model suitable for Guangzhou
- Intermodal integration
- Institutional arrangements and next steps.
