Guangzhou BRT is a next-generation Bus Rapid Transit system. The first phase will open on 10 February 2010. Guangzhou's BRT will provide major benefits for bus and metro passengers in Guangzhou, as well as for bus operators and the general public. Commuters along the 23km phase I corridor on Zhongshan Avenue will save up to one hour in travel time each day, and the bus passenger experience will be greatly improved. With a peak ridership of around 23,000 passengers per hour in one direction, Guangzhou's BRT will have more than triple the passenger capacity of any other BRT system in Asia -- delivered at higher speeds and under better service conditions.
